If I Were a Book

(Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury)

"In Ray Bradbury's dystopian novel, Fahrenheit 451 (1953), he paints a speculative future in which firemen no longer put out fire but instead set fire to books." a brief description of a novel found in the book for my media and information class.

In the book, there is what they call the "wilderness community" where in one area of the book, a character named Granger reveals to the protagonist Montag that human beings had "photogenic memories" and that they, the people of the wilderness, are beginning to regain this great capacity to remember. Basically, from what I've understood, the wilderness community is a group of people who are the sources of information because books in the novel were being burnt and reading or keeping a book could cost one their life. Again, that's what I've understood from reading only a brief summary of Fahrenheit 451.

If I were part of the wilderness community that memorizes, embodies, and mediates books, which would I like to be? Honestly I don't really read books but if I do get to chose what book I would want to be, I would want to be a fantasy book. I know, probably zero to none information would be found in that kind of book but hey, it's a fun and interesting genre. A book like Alice in Wonderland where I could slay a huge dragon and save a whole kingdom. I love anything about something that doesn't really exist, like other worlds, or maybe something about some sort of magic. A fantasy book, instead of bring a lot of information, may bring happiness to people. Just like a book of this genre, I would also want to make people happy and bring them joy.

My Observation of a Day of Exposure to Media

(Social Media)

Honestly speaking, I spend up to about 12 hours, or more, on social media when there are no classes and whenever I have free time by going through my Facebook news feed, watching random videos, checking out pictures on Instagram, listening to new music, sometimes even reading news articles online. But, because of school, it's somehow helped me to control my use of media through the internet and instead, exposed me to print media (like books and newspapers). The chart below was an observation of the media exposure I had from day to night of 12/01/2016:
